My Blue Tongue Skink's toes are all messed up!!! Need Help

biff Jul 08, 2005 12:52 PM

my blue tongue skink's toes are all screwed up and [bleep]. i think they might be from calcium defieciency so i started giving him a calcium suppllemnt rather than a multivitamin with a little calcium in it. it has seemed to help but i dont know wat else i can do or should do or if i should let it heal on its own.

Is your concern the toes that are missing toenails? How long have you had him/her? Is this a new problem, or one it came with?

was this skink being housed with other skinks? looks like either some battle wounds or some really bad shed problems. more info?? obviously the damage is done and you should just take care to not let those toes get roughed up anymore. in the future pay close attention to their sheds especially the toes, bts are notorious for having toe shed problems and if that occurs you can gently soak the toes in warm water and simply wipe them off gently with a wash cloth or your fingers.

Saw the pic. That's terrible. With proper care it should never have gotten to that point. Need to get it to a vet and maybe re-think keeping reptiles as pets.
