question about anoles

LNC8756 Jul 08, 2005 02:15 PM

i have a green anole and she likes to get out of her cage and sit on the window sill or on my computer desk in a plant? is this okay to let her do this or should i keep her in her cage?

I suppose that all depends on you - do you mind? do you feel comfortable with getting her back in her cage? do you have cats?

I've never really thought about it before, but I can't think why it would be such a bad thing other than safety hazards like getting stepped on or eating something she shouldn't.

There's more exercise, stimulation, and possible food items. Hmmmm. Strange thought!

She won't benefit much from being on the window sill. Pretty much all of the UVB is filtered out by the glass but the heat may be beneficial. I see nothing wrong with it as long as you can return her to her cage without caunsing any stress.

I disagree, I think that letting a Anole could do almost nothing but cause stress for him..Whether then, if it's a risk you want to take than be my guest, but I will only take my Anoles out if their cage is being cleaned, never more than that..Same with my snake, toads, etc.

It will be fine, as long as you take nesicary precautions... such as making sure it doesn't eat specific things, or getting eaten by specific things....

naturally, they love to explore... a few min with out UVB light wont hurt them, when i was a kid and had one, i used to let it climb arround on a potted tree we had in the house that sat in the sunlight, it absolutely LOVED it. that little guy lived about 2-1/2 years (got him from school after a science lesson)
