My juv. Sulcata... question on pyramiding... and some other random ?'s.

12JC21 Jul 08, 2005 09:59 PM

Hi everyone. This is my first post on these forums, but I'm glad that I finally found some decently active ones.

I just recently purchased a Sulcata from the pet store that I work at. Yes, I know, it will take great care and eventually space. I do have some questions

1) I'm currently supplementing shim's food (not sure on sex, so I say shim for she-him) using repta-calcium and retpa-vitamin. I found that 2:1, calcium:vitamin is the amount shim should be getting. Is this correct? And how often? I read daily as a juvenile.

2) What's a good, easy to find, regular diet for them? Just regular, untreated grass? I know leafy greens and fruits can be given as treats, but I was wondering what I could give him daily.

3) What exactly is pyramiding? Is it when the front/top of the shell sort of forms a point? I'm going to attempt to include pictures, and I Was wondering the extent of my sulcata's pyramiding.

Thanks in advance!!

Here's an article on pyrmading: www.sulcstatn.addr.com/pyramid.html

Your hatchling appears to be free of pyramiding. There are other articles on the website about diet, etc.

Have fun!
