JCP making strange noises tonight

Weekendherper Jul 08, 2005 10:48 PM

Went to check on the snakes tonight and I heard the strangest sounds coming from my adult JCP I purchased a few weeks back. He ate 2 small/meduim rats 4 days ago. Tonight I heard what I thought was a precursor to a large poop, but turned out to be more of a grumbling tummy sound. It was LOUD! It was very hard to tell if the grumbling sound was coming from the stomach or his mouth, but his mouth was not open when he made these noises. A few minutes later he opened his mouth and loudly expelled what could only be described as a burp. This went on with some loud grumbling and then a burp 3 or 4 more times. He seems fine now, but I've never heard this before from any snake. His temps are 81 cool, 86 warm side with a 3-4 degree drop at night and about 45% humidity.

Has anyone else heard anything like this?

Any input would be appreciated.

well im no expert, but maybe what your snake was doing was just burping. i see no reason why a snake cant have a gas attack. maybe it was just something he ate. unless it continues i see no reason to worry.

my JCP has gas attacks once in a while, mostly from larger meals, I think it may be because air is trapped in the eating process.....
