Dumeril's boa as beginner snake?

I was thinking about getting my first snake. I have a bearded dragon,russain and refoot tortoises but I want a snake. Would a Dumeril's boa make a good first snake? I was thinking about a ball python but the feeding issues they have is putting me off. And the red tails get to big for me. I don't think I could handle a 8-10 snake.Also kings,corns and milks don't interest me at all.
