A friend of mine is trying to sell me his Nikon D70, so I borrowed it for a few days to see how I like it. I really like it. Here are some pics I took using only the kit lens (Nikkor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5), which is not a very impressive piece of equipment. If I do buy this camera, some decent lenses would have to be at the top of my shopping list.

I'll start with the snakes:

Male Coastal - just chillin

Male JCP - up close and personal

Male JCP - jungle curiosity

Male (Price) Bredli - posing for the camera

Male (Price) Bredli - wishing I had a macro lens

Female (Lazik) Bredli - all attitude

Female Coastal - surveying her domain

Female Coastal - doing a ball python impersonation

Female Coastal - The closest thing I got to a tongue shot

Female Coastal - This pic I caught her in a yawn, but since I was jacking around with the aperature width and shutter speed settings, I took a 1 second exposure, and neither she nor I were very still during that second. If I were more familiar with the camera I probably could've switched to the right settings and got the picture, but alas, I wasn't fast enough. Being ready when the good shot happens is half the skill of photography.

That's all of the snake pics. They were all taken in the enclosure with no special lighting, just a decent flash with a diffusor. I'll take more pics of the snakes out in direct sunlight if I get a chance, and they should turn out a lot better. Here are some misc pics I took around the neighborhood, just playing with the camera.

If you have comments or suggestions on how I can improve my photo-taking skills, feel free. I'm way out of practice, the last time I took any pictures other than with a snapshot camera was when I was in high school, and these new digital SLRs are a major learning experience for me. Thanks for looking.
