Calling boas that look jungle, "aberrant", kind of under sells them, imo. To me aberrant has a negative connotation that is unfair to boas that exhibit "junglish" traits. If there isn't a clown boa already, I'm very surprised that the clown label wasn't picked up in place of aberrant.
Good topic.

What do you think of this one?? Think clown fits?

The pics are a bit old, I think she may breed this season. Do you think I should prove her with a jungle, or a coral?

Gorgeous looking boa,but I thought I saw the same animal on your site listed as "pastel dream",is it a PD,or an unproven animal from unknown origin?

PanamaRed Jul 10, 2005 01:01 PM

The last I heard I was told she was from a striped pastel dream X Striped pastel dream. The stripe comming from out of the blue.. All of the babys in her litter were smokin with aberrancy, stripes, reverse stripes, and both reverse and dorsal stripes.. I did see photos of the adults who are similar looking to her..

I don't know if I trust the source,(the breeder) as I originaly bought her as a Jungle in 03 from someone else.. Very long story... Thats why I took her off my for sale list and decided I had better just prove her myself..

She may be a pastel, but still no name for the genetic aberrancy..

It's a great looking animal with great potential. post more pics as it gets bigger!

Breed it to a non-aberrant albino,if the color & aberrancies come through in the offspring it will be much easier to deduce that she had an influence,(and, you'll have some very nice outcrossed hets for future breedings!) breeding her to a Jungle isn't a "bad" idea,it just won't do much in the "proving" dept.(it'll just make some awesome Jungles )

I think im probably going to go with the coral male, as she is extremly pink so I figure that couldn't hurt either.. I posted pics of her fresh from this morning in the post above.

clowns. I could be wrong on that defenition though.

Quite a big difference between jungles and harlequins... geneticly and visually.

See this site for info on harlequins:

Jungles have been jungles since the term was coined by the founders...there were some boas called Clown boas, owned by Tip Powers 8-9 years ago. not sure what ever happened to them though?
