What size tank do you keep your Milksnake in? What's their temperment like? Are they good (steady) eaters? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanx!

i have a tangerine dream honduran milk. he is a 2 year old. I house him in a 20 gallon long tank with a screen lid. 1/2 covered to help with heat/humidity.
he has calmed down alot but when he was a baby he would be real flighty when being picked up.
he eats f/t great even though i don't have supplemental heat pad or anything for him right now. he does have an UTH but avoids it so i unpluged it. room temp is 77 so he is fine without the extra heat.
one thing about the milks is they hide 24/7. unlike my corns who come out often, even during the day. something to think about if you want a 'display' snake you want to see. i almost got rid of him because he hide 24 hours a day but i'm glad i didn't. he is real good with being handled now. what ever you choose do your homework. i hear the sanolan (sp?) milks are the best for beginners but not sure.
Yeah, the Sinaloans, the Mexicans, the Pueblans--- I guess the smaller subspecies are what I'm interested in. I heard the Hondurans can get get up to 6', and some can have an attitude. Thanx so much for the info. I'm reading Applegate's book "General Care and Maintenance of Milksnakes". I'm reading about the hibernation period. One thing that's not clear is whether it's necessary for all captives or just those you wish to breed.

i think it's only if you want to breed. i have never put my snakes through a cooling period and they are fine. i just have them as pets. i have that book as well on milks. i was concidering a black milk. they are AWSOME. i saw a jet black one and it was so cool looking. i hear they are docile with handling as well. i've seen a couple of pictures of really long milks...like 6 foot, one a black milk and the other a honduran, but mine is more like 3 foot. enjoy........
i have: 1 tangerine dream honduran milk.
3 corns
1 6-7 foot jungle carpet python
1 soloman island ground boa.
I've got a couple of hondos and some pueblans. The pueblans are all in 10-15 gallon tanks right now, but may get moved up this year. The hondos are currently in 20 gallons. All eat well, but most of my pueblans started out as shy eaters. The pueblans have improved dramatically in temperament as they have aged, but I realize that they are never going take handling as well as most of my other colubrids, including the hondos. They don't panic anymore, but they prefer to be left alone.
Thanx. Pueblans are one of the subspecies I was considering, so it's nice to know about their temperment. I'm trying to find info on Mexicans, Sinaloans and New Mexicans as well.
