So I get a call from my boyfriend and when he got home tonight his room was covered in little tiny bugs. His MOTHER decided to take it upon herself to remove our dragon from his home and spray RAID in and on EVERYTHING.. For tonight we've had to place him in something secure to hold him because we obviously can't put him back in.

What is the BEST way to clean everything. Logs, walls ect! Please help quick!!

Is his mom off her rocker?! I imagine you must be pretty steamed at her right now....jesus!
I've never really had anything like this happen to me..but basically I can tell you, anything permeable, throw away. Throw the logs out, any decorations it could have soaked in to...everything! The tank itself should probably be ok if it's glass and/or not permeable....soak it in a bleach solution for a day or so...then rinse like crazy and rinse again, let dry completely. I know how toxic RAID can be. In the mean time....get some new basking stones, logs, feeding dishes, whatever ASAP. You might look into getting a reptarium to put your beardie in temporarily, if you don't have one. Oh, and make sure you get his mother to pay for everything! Anything else you need, I'm an insomniac and I'll be up for a while.

See I was told to boil anything like the wood stuff then cook it.

She didn't realize. From my understanding she had no choice there was just to many of these little bugs. And they had consumed his house as well. However I wasn't there so I don't know. She is a smart women and I don't think she would have done this unless she felt it ABSOLUSTLY nessassary. I have a 20 gallon aquarium I can put him in for a few days.

My boyfriend has already thrown out all the crickets he had in his cricket keeper incase any of the raid had landed on them and scrubbed the keeper. (It's an extra large one) And put my dragon in there just for the night. She didn't spray the tank with the dragon in it though THANK GOD!!!

Well, I'm paranoid, so I would probably throw all the permeable stuff out..but that might work too. Good thing you had the extra tank! I didn't mean to offend you about your boyfriend's mom, so I apologize if I did. Let her know though that RAID is 1000 times more toxic to reptiles than to us, and even then, woud you want to sleep in a bed full of raid???

Nicky: Thanks for the advice. Don't worry you didn't offend me at all. I've been saying "WHAT AN IDIOT" all night and all morning. But it was an accident and I can't be mad at her forever.

I'm throwing out EVERYTHING because my home for him was made from Melamine and Plexi Glass lining the inside. And plexi glass also is very pourus and can't be saved. $150.00 down the drain just for the terrerium alone. Meh!

I have Little Buddy back in my care for now until Aaron (my boyfriend) and I can figure something out as to a new home for him .. I'll probably end up building a new one seeing as I don't like tanks because you are picking him up from above him and I'd rather have doors in the front so it doesn't startle him.

Nicky thank you for your concern and answering my questions ASAP you are the only one to ever do so.

Right now I'm breaking up slate and stone to make him a temporary basking spot because I will have to purchase new wood ect later on and washing down the stone. I'll post new pictures of his new home when one is built.

Kayla,

You are a much more forgiving person than I am, I would be soo mad for a very, VERY long time! But, it is done, and all that matters is Little Buddy is OK.
I'm glad I could help some. I see you're going to end up buying a tank, that's cool. I would love to make a cage...but I am so mentally deficient when it comes to those things!
If you're worried about opening from the top, you could always buy one with a sliding front, like vision, but those tend to be a little $$.
Anyway, glad that LB is ok, and that he's back with you. Definitely post some pics of his new set up when it's done.
