Love the excitement building here!

mexicanamak Jul 10, 2005 07:25 AM

The time has come and our favorite time of year has finally arrived. I really enjoy everyones excitement here as those hatchlings begin to emerge, work hard all year caring for our animals and now the rewards begin to come out of their eggs... it just doesn't get much better! I get the biggest charge out of seeing you all so happy and excited, sharing all of your success. I know what everyone is feeling and it is such a terrific thing we all share.

Wish I had the clutch pic for ya John, but not quite yet... still only one lonely young soldier out and about so far so, here are the parents just for the heck of it.....

Hi Mike

Nice white leonis there. You ought to bring them outside to take some pics. I bet they would look even better. I agree with you, I like how people here share their success and fun on keeping mexicanas in this forum. That's one of the reasons I post here more than other forums. We're on the right track here since I know of other forums that doest get much post because of some tension between a few individuals. Sad to say the least. Anyway, Keep us updated on the progress of your first clutch. Take care.

...concerning tension and the issues that develop within the forums at times and you're absolutely right, the atmosphere is much lighter here in the Mexicana Forum. Maybe that says something about us mexicana folks?!!

At one time not long ago, I would get discouraged with a lot of the antics, not necessarily being directly involved but at times I did find myself there. It was very disheartening, but we are all individuals and it's going to happen when a large group of people interact. It can be very healthy actually if handled properly, as long as it doesn't get out of hand. Unfortunately, sometimes it does and it makes these places much less than what they could be.

But really, overall I think that the people here in all of the kingsnake forums are a unique, highly intelligent and extremely knowledgeable gathering of people, with a common interest, that handle the rough edges very well. I see the tempers flare and the conflict arise, and eventually it all simmers down and most everyone makes amends and it is one big happy family once again.

What's important is, that all of us that are here because we really want to learn, really want to share and are serious about all of it... remain in here listening and contributing if we can, with a bit of a stiff upper lip letting all the nonsense pass us by. Eventually it will.

I would like to see these places as forums devoted only to our learning, sharing of our accomplishments, putting people in touch with one another and engaging in healthy thought-provoking conversation so that we can all continue to digest it all and enjoy a more successful and enjoyable hobby. Don't get me wrong, overall I do see it as that to a great degree. But, we are human, and intelligent human minds will eventually encounter a conflict. Nothing at all wrong with that, how the conflicts are handled are where the problem sometimes lies.

And I'm not the first to notice that there are those that come along from time to time that attempt to use the forums as a place to advertise and promote, attempt to prove themselves the better in order to draw attention for the sake of competition, or to just plain argue. Anymore, I try to just ignore the nonsense and attitudes and carry on as if it didn't exist, and being able to weed my way through allows me to get a tremendous amount more out of it all.

Those with their issues will come and go... I am here to stay, and enjoy being around all of you. Immensely!

Mike

Or maybe its just petty jealousy. LOL.... Just to throw some cold water on Mikes post. LOL

I'm just wishing my thayeri were piping instead of my Cal kings. So far all but one of them look like their daddy, which is good news.

That saturated orange is awesome Jonel. All three that are out so far are great looking. I hope to get one or 2 like that too. And Russ man I still cant believe the shear size of those clutches and a great looking bunch of leonis you have there. BTW where are the milksnake phase for us MSP lovers???? LOL

I can't wait to see more pics guys.

And I don't even understand it. I mean... there you are, sittin' over there in your ultra cool sunroom, relaxing and watching the day go by, super cool Cali's pipping out, Veiled Chameleon laying eggs for you (how much cooler can that be?!!!), and here I am...

Over here slavin' my butt off, feeding and cleaning cages, feeding and cleaning cages, feeding and cleaning cages, feeding and cleaning cages, feeding and cleaning cages, feeding and cleaning cages... AND WATCHING THAYERI HATCH OUT.

3 out so far, 2 milksnake and 1 leonis. BUT... what does black and white all mixed up make?!! GRAY. All 3 so far are gray babies. Now how jealous are ya?!! Don't know how many y'all out there like the gray ones besides myself, but that leonis one is pretty darn nice... kinda like the ultimate alterna phase Gray Band. Those thayeri of yours are going to be well worth the wait.

5 more pipped and waiting over here, wonder what they will be???

Now... sit back, behave yourself and have another cool, refreshing iced tea while I get back to work! lol!!!

I was feeding and cleaning cages yesterday, so todays my day of rest! LOL Hey the veiled cham laid 23 eggs so I've got them incubating now too. My cali's keep on popping out so far 9 out and 13 more to go. The second clutch is just starting to pip.

As far as thayeri go it looks like I have 11 good eggs and just dying to see what comes out of them.

Jeez Mike I guess you told me! I'm trying to behave myself over here. It's just that yes all the other stuff (cal kings, chameleons) is cool and I enjoy them, but I have mexicana in my blood Bro. Or is that just Mexican. LOL ( I couldn't resist)

jonellopez Jul 10, 2005 05:11 PM

"Deep breaths jonel" . . . "deep breaths". . . "It's OK" . . . "take a deep breath" . . . hehe

Thanks for the compliment. It's OK man! Cal Kings are good too. Better late than never.....save the best for last right? hhhmmm what else hehe. Your animals are sweet bro so I'm pretty sure we'll bow down and give proper respect to what your animals produce.

I used both of my VR males (one leonis and one milksnake) this year so I might have some milksnake phases in the bunch if not the 2nd batch. Still waiting for the rest of the animals to hatch. Waiting sucks! LOL Take care.

Jonel I'm glad you took it in the way it was ment. In jest. No need for deep breaths. You'll just hyper-ventilate. LOL

I've got your web site book marked and really like your pyro's and especially your thayeri. I need to talk to you about a female pyro one of these days soon.

And you don't have to tell me how much waiting sucks. My one clutch of thayeri still has about another month or so to cook. I'm dying over here in Nuevo Mexico. LOL I just keep telling myself, next year.......next year......next year.......LOL

jlassiter Jul 10, 2005 06:38 PM

Yes....the petty jealousy has reared its ugly head over here too........LOL
I shall have hopefully nine baby thayeri by the end of the month to share.
When are yours due to hatch Chris? If you already stated it I forgot..LOL
And Mike.....work on some pics man....We gotta see 'em.
Great shots Jonel and Russ....can't wait to see more from you guys.

Waiting on eggs from this pair.....And as you all know waiting sux.

vichris Jul 11, 2005 12:55 AM

My thayeri girl, Mildred laid her clutch on 6/15. So I've got a little better than a month to go. I'm about to go and chew the bark off a tree, I'm getting so impatient. LOL And to top it off I've been in and out of my incubator a bunch here lately. Every time I look at those thayeri eggs I cringe.

I'm not sure if Mildred is gonna double clutch or not. She's still eating like a pig and getting bigger, but I'm really not sure if she's gravid. Time will tell.

Here's Mildred
