Reptaid as a supplement

gonexenopus Jul 10, 2005 11:35 AM

my veiled female, Arcadia, LOVES repta-aid by Flukers. as soon as she sees the syringe she runs to the front of the cage and laps it down. she'll even bite the syringe trying to eat the entire thing! she can usually drink the entire syringe full of it. i let her do this about once or twice a month.

i'm wondering how often and how much of repta-aid can be used as a supplement?

Yema, my other female hates the stuff and wont bother with it.

Hi Rachel,

I would not use it unless necessary. it is not really meant for regular use, but more for a dehydrated animals and other nutritive problems. Luna loved it too and it was the only thing she would eat while gravid. I think the vitamin and other nutritional elements are not meant to be used long term, so unless she is not eating on her own for some reason I would not use it.

btw, got a cute pic of Skippy and will upload it soon to show you. She has also jumped out of her tank a few times! very bizarre. Always when I am asleep, but she makes enough noise trying to swim on the floor(!) that it wakes me. I thought I had secured a top but then last night she got out again! Still not in her 20 gal but she will be this week - maybe with more room she won't want to run away from home!

hi lele!

ok, i wont use it as a supplement. i did use it on her shortly after she laid her eggs. do you think that is a good thing to do? give it to them only after they lay? she ate crickets and waxworms while gravid.

i cant wait to see a pic of Skippy they are amazing escape artists! drop water level down 2.5 inches and use plastic netting (from fruit bags and clementine boxes) to tape up ALL openings in the back, including the filter! i drape the netting across to the top and sides of the filter and tape it to the back of the hood. i've lost 3 frogs in the past due to escapes but since i've done this, i havent lost a single one! oh, btw, i've got 3 frogs in rescue now, if you want another one...or two....hehehe.
