I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS ON KEEPING COLLAREDS.. I NEED HELP.

ZippoBSquared Jul 15, 2003 01:44 PM

Hi, hopefully if you are reading this, you can help me. It would be greatly appreciated if you did help.

I am planning to but a couple of collared lizards soon. I have done a lot of research on them and know th basic needs these awesome lil' lizards need. But i still have a few questions no one could answer..yet.

1. I have a 48x16x16 aquarium, how many collared lizards could it hold comfortably?

2. Are these lizards actually that aggressive? Or are they like any other lizard?

3.I know how to tell sexs, but are they easy to breed, and how old do they have to be before they breed?

4. I also know they like rock piles to have as look outs, does each collared lizard need its own pile of rocks?

Thanks for you time and help.... ZippoBSquared

1. I have a 48x16x16 aquarium, how many collared lizards could it hold comfortably? I prefer one male and one or two females for a cage that size for feeing/cleanup reasons.

2. Are these lizards actually that aggressive? Or are they like any other lizard? They can be agressive at first, but tame as a puppy dog for the most part after adjusting to you.

3.I know how to tell sexs, but are they easy to breed, and how old do they have to be before they breed? They can be sexually mature before one year...yes, for the most part they will breed easily for you. Eastern collareds are probably the easiest.

4. I also know they like rock piles to have as look outs, does each collared lizard need its own pile of rocks? I usually keep two basking sites...I put stable bricks on the bottom of the tank, then carefully place rocks on top of that...do not allow them to dig under rocks that are not supported. They will get smashed!

Any more questions?
