There is a German fellow who advertises them on occasion (in classifieds)but his price is beyond ridiculous ($350).
I saw a juv at the 95 daytona Expo for $75. The bad news is it died there.
The problem is that Moles are very common, but almost all that are caught are shipped to Europe where they are popular and apparently demand high prices.
I have searched for those for over 20 years and each time the importer thats wears he'll have them never gets them.

Thanks Frank. I knew there had to be a reason I haven't seen them. They sound like they would be excellant pets due to their temperment, size, and color variations. Sounds like you will get some if they become available. Keep me in mind if you find some.

Tim,
Glades had a pair last year around September, I think, but I didn't find out about them until after they were sold. I talked to the guys at glades and they said they might get some more in. Haven't seen them on a price list yet, but they may sell before they get listed.
I had one (pictured) a few years back that I found in a petstore in El Paso. It was a jet black male and I spent several years trying to find a female for him. He finally died (crypto?) mysteriously and I have never been able to find another. It was feisty, but didn't bite (all hiss). Picking it up was like picking up a black 4.5 foot wc hognose. I really liked this snake and would love to find another. They are very much like Pituophis.
Vince Scheidt was selling some pairs a few years back for about $350 a pair. I didn't want to spend the money. There was also a breeder in the UK that sells babies, but doesn't ship to the US.

Thanks Chris. I have found a breeder in Germany that wants to trade me for animals I am producing this year. I will hopefully have some by the end of the summer.
Are you coming to my Expo in August?

>>Are you coming to my Expo in August?
I don't know what my situation is with work/vacation in August yet. We are going to Panama for a few weeks then I need to get back for pre-semester faculty meetings etc.
I might drive up and at least take a look around (hopefully not buy anything!).

They feel like a rubber hose rather than like normal snakes. Their skin is very rubbery (much more so than a rubber boa). It is kind of hard to describe, but really an unusual feeling.
