250 day wait to see this face.......

mayday Jul 10, 2005 02:42 PM

This egg was laid back on November 1st and it finally pipped Friday night as we were getting brushed by Hurricane Dennis.
The other eggs from the same clutch hatched back in May and they were also overdue. Nothing like this little guy though! 250 days is the longest incubation time I have ever had for a redfoot.
I have no explanation as to why it took so long. The other clutches of eggs incubated in the same incubator all hatched normally. For some reason this clutch took much longer even though they were right next to the others that hatched within a normal time frame.
The good part is that I got 100% fertility from five clutches this past season.

It didn't get a chance to read the book.

Sure didn't. The little stinker still had a huge yolk sac too.

Remember when I sent you this pic Carl? Not much bigger than a quarter.. see the "laid date" on the egg.. and the "pip date" on the pic!!!

Not only did he "pip" in 111 days.. but look what hatched.. 1 5/8" gorgeous Colombian "blood-line".. what a surprise!!!
