Hey everyone! New here, a few ???' s about my turtle pond!

Hey guys,

I just adopted 3 neglected Painted turtles (1 baby, and 2 adults) They had never seen natural sunlight, and had horribly stunted growth. Within a period of about 3 days, I threw a little 100 gal pond together for them. The 3 occupants seem to be doing just fine together (even though 2 turtles are 5 times as big as the baby) They are now fed a wide variety of food, and bask in 100% natural sunlight throughout the day. Here are a couple pics of the pond. Is it ok for them??? Im open to ANY suggestions, so I would LOVE your input! Thanks a bunch,
Michele

Pond looks good, and so do the turtles. The only thing that worries me is the hatchling. First I dont like the fact that its in with the bigger turtles. Second, all the turtles, especially the hatchling are vulnerable to predators such as racoons, herons, dogs, cats, ect. I would look into maybe bringing the hatchling inside until it got bigger. Also I would build a top for the pond. Just make a frame out of wood and cover it with chicken wire so nothing can get into the pond. Dont use fine meshed screen because it will filter out the UVB from the sun.
Good luck,
Chris

It looks good and so do the turtles but as Chris said... keep the baby inside for awhile. Is there a fence around the pond? If not you will need one to prevent possible escapes.

Hey everyone!

Yes, I was planning on putting some sort of protection around the pond, but I jsut set it up 4 days ago, so Im still working on it. Thanks for the advice, Im going to take the little hatchling inside until he ages a bit! Thanks so much again guys~
