Probing in most lizards is dangerous and not accurate at best. Bob also told me that he probed my baby as a female. Loofah is most definately a male. Best thing to do is play the waiting game. Hemipenal bulges are usually evident by 15-18 months.

probe pretty much any iguana. You do have to be very careful, especially in hatchling animals (so you don't pop through the hemipenes in males or go to far in females). With Cyclura probing is usually spot on, but if you're not sure, have someone experienced do it for you.

If you can look at an entire clutch, the ones with narrower heads are usually females. Males tend to have broader heads. Probing can be done, but it is easy to make errors as males can tighten up and get mistaken for females, and membranes can get damaged if too much force is applied. Even the experts make mistakes, but better to have someone with experience rather than risk injuring your pet.
