satanic female...

Tiia Jul 11, 2005 03:12 AM

I have 2.2. group of satanics and one of my older female have been acting strainge...
Usually she is hanging on ficus in day time but this morning I noticed that she had burrowing herself in reptibark in ficus pot.Only her head is out.I have had them only a couple of months and she have never done this before.Temperatures are ok...24celsius at day and 20celsius at night and humidity is around 80 to 100% all the time.Is this normal or are their tank too hot for her?

shes probably laying eggs.

Well the temperatures seem to be okay, how about humidity? Have you changed anything in their schedule lately as in time of day your spray and what not? She could find the substrate a little more moist and is about to shed. But like wickedclowns said she could be laying? I dunno. Keep an eye on her. If it makes you feel any better I have heard of this happening before with no ill effects afterwards.

Humidity is around 80-100%.I have build a system where cool water mist is coming to tank every hour about 15 minutes at time.Other 3 seems to act normally only this female is strange.I don´t think she is laying eny eggs because both males are about 8-9months old..so they are quite young. This old female is 3 years old.Maby she is laying infertile eggs? I have noticed that with my young ciliatus females...at this time they have ever been with male and now they are laying infertile eggs.

infertiles usually arent buried. they're usually glued to a leaf, twig, glass, etc. even though you lil guys are young, you never know...they could be mature enough to pass on their genes, so to speak. someone posted not too long ago about the same situation, and i actually found a female satanic of mine burying herself in the leaf litter a couple nights ago, didnt notice till i dropped crickets in and saw her strike out. no eggs from that location, although she has laid one or two pairs of inferts.

kinda hard to tell whats goin on in the minds of these tiny critters.

We offer a cooling system which would be not only portable but cool your system off quite fast. use ice in your sunbeam ultrasonic foggers or with our zoomed circulation cooling system and that way you'll be sure no folded tails, shed issues and no chance of stokes...
