Rebekah, ...largest JCP in the USA?

Will Leary Jul 11, 2005 10:01 AM

This weekend Mary and I had the pleasure of having Matt and Nikki Turner over to the house. They are both wonderful people and we had a great time going thru our collection. Matt almost immediately commented on the size of our Jungles, mainly referring to Naomi, Eve and GSF1. I responded, "Just wait until you see Rebekah!"

Once we had her out I was curious to know just how large she really is, so we measured and photographed her. Would you believe she measured out at over 9-1/2'!!! (115-117" inches, conservatively), and weighs about 20 lbs! I'm glad we had Matt and Nikki here as witnesses! LOL. I wonder if anyone has heard of a Jungle that is larger?

Sincerely,
-----

How much and how often do you feed her?

We give her a few jumbo rats every 5-7 days.

Jay from BestBoids.com told me that he feeds his JCPs every 10-14 days. He said that they will live longer that way. Is that true?

wow!! what a beauty. my male is about 6.5 foot and he only eats a f/t extra large to a jumbo rat every couple weeks. he won't eat as often as every 5-7 days. maybe that is why that one is so big?? anyways....its awsome.

Keep in mind that a couple of large or jumbo rats will hardly make a dent in a carpet of her size. I feed her "as needed," so don't take my 5-7 day statement "too" literal. It's not as though I have a set feeding schedule. And as you can see from the pics, she's not over fed by any means.

And yes, what Jay said is correct. Over feeding is definitely not good, and your snakes will live longer if you feed more conservatively. However, depending upon the temps, season, and the individual snakes metabolism, some snakes may need to be fed more often. This time of year it seems they feed and defecate more rapidly than I can keep up with!

My male JCP is quite large as well, not as big as that one but not to far behind, he is at the vet's now for an RI that keeps coming and going. When the vet checked him in he estimated him to be around 8 feet and he weighed in at 14 pounds 6 ounces. I have attached a pic to give you an Idea, when he gets back from the vet I will get an updated picture. There are 2 JCP's in the picture if you look closely but the big male I have is in the foreground. I hope he gets better and continues to grow and reach your JCP's size.
