Boy or Girl?

MastinoMike Jul 11, 2005 11:41 AM

I bought this guy from John Richards as a hatchling about 5 or 6 years ago I think. He or she is 11.5 pounds and has a 11 inch shell form front to back. Dont know if that is a good or bad growth rate. I will never get rid of this guy. Dont know the sex? First time posting a pic, hope this works.

From that pic I would say female. If you could try to get a pic from the side so I can see how far the vent is past the rear of the carapace, I could make sure.

Thanx for the reply, I had nothing to compare it to so it looks like a girl?

Yeah that looks like a female. If the cloaca is after the edge of the carapace its male, if its before its a female. This rule is usually pretty accurate. So in your case, yours is female.
