Maturity and sexual differences ...

Ji_ Jul 11, 2005 01:46 PM

Hey there, Im considering a red but definatly am interested in a male, I will try to find a breeder that has experience probing but still I understand that you cant be certain until sexual maturity.

When does this occur, approx.?? Other than the obvious differences in coloration and the jowls when do males and females start developing visual differences? Age, length/weight??

When will a male start developing jowls and the difference in coloration? Ive read about the spurs in males, and being noticable around 3', what age would this be?

Basically I guess Im wondering what the earliest visable differences are, and about what time (or length/weight) to start looking for these differences?

Thank you!

it depends a LOT on the tegu and it's care. They can be large enough to show sexual dimorphisms anywhere from 6 months to 1 year of age.
