Granite... Yes, No, Maybe??

Mystical-Dragons Jul 11, 2005 02:03 PM

I picked this pretty girl up today at a local pet shop. I was wondering if you guys/gals could tell from these pics if she may be a granite? What exactly makes a granite? I hear some have markers, what should I be looking for? How much do young granites usually sell for? Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated.

She's a very nice snake. There are a lot of snakes that are called granites, but not many that have actually been proven. However, she does look a lot better than many of the so called granites posted here. Good find and good luck!

There are 3 main markers genetic granites have.
1. granite markings...obvious
2. a break in the stripe near the head, yours has this
3. an unpatterned belly, can't tell from the pic, but looks like it.

Even with all three markers it isn't certain, but yours looks pretty good.

I would say you look for a clear or semi-clear belly, Lots of speckling on sides, and a broken neck stripe or a neck stripe that has a dot at the tip of it. Lets see your belly photo.....Yours might be what some call a Orange Granite. Most granites range from 50.00 males - 500.00 females and also depending on the way it looks. Thanks David
