1) How much dirt do you have in Sobeks cage? 2ft in most of it, 1ft in one end thats 4x3ft, thats where her multilevel basking spot is.
2) How big is her cage? Her cage is 10ftx5ftx4ft although I wanted to make it larger, oh well.
3) Is the dirt spread out evenly or is it higher in one spot? above answered.
4) Does her cage have wheels? No, its on cinderblocks on a concrete basement floor thats finished with tiles etc.
5) You use 60-40 watt bulbs, right? How far away are they from the surface? I use 45 watt halogen outdoor flood bulbs in almost all cages but 2, both use 30 watt incandescent spotbulbs. The halogens are mounted on basking light assemblies I made that are secured with chains on all 4 corners, that way they can be raised and lowered. Also if the animal climbs on it they cannot possibly break it.
6) Any advice for building a cage? Preparations, considerations, etc? If 4x4x8ft and larger use 22/32nd plywood (not fiberboard, not melamine, etc), adhese .090 FRP to the inside of it, paint the outside with indoor semigloss paint, make all vent holes on the sides, use a replacement widow for the door, so easy, very durable, somewhat inexpensive.

Now does she burrow or does she dig under the log and basking platform? Also, did you just drill holes on the side or did you use those vents that you can buy at Home Depot and such?

She uses all 3 for different reasons at different times. Sometimes she just digs holes, sometimes she goes under the bottom layer of her basking site into a hole she dug there. Mainly she uses the stack.
I drilled 1.5 inch holes in the cage for ventilation, no vents at her size. Ive used vents, and other things in other cages as she grew up and grew into new cages.

Yeah, I guess you couldn't use the vents with her size cause she could just rip them off or apart.
