Could someone please help me out with that?I was told only males have those little spurs on them.Is that right?I ask because i brought 01 RTB online and she was said to be female, but i happened to look under her and "she"has them too??
So what's the deal both male & female have them?If so how do i go about getting the correct sex?
Thx for any input.

Well, it your lucky day! Both male and female boas have spurs! So, that means that you probably have a female. I say 'probably' because sometimes even professionals get it wrong. The easiest way for an experienced boa handler to sex a baby boa is to 'pop' out the hemipenes (spelled that wrong) on the males. However, if you don't know what you are doing - you can cause serious damage to the young boa. The other way is to probe, however, I'm not going to get into that right now. You can get details on sexing in "How To" books about Boas if you are interested.

An 01 boa constrictor should be fairly easy to sex by the spurs. A female would have a thin, straight claw that is more or less circular in cross section or no claw at all. Sometimes the spur is drawn into a pit in the skin and is all but invisible. A male would have a thick claw with a hook on the end. The male's claw is higher than wide so there is a more or less rectangular cross section. Comparing the spurs of known sex snakes is very helpful. Good luck.
