3 QUESTIONS..... LONGG

jbuggs500 Jul 11, 2005 08:30 PM

Ok here we go...
2 PICS OF THE MALE ONE IN THE LINK....

1. When do adult male balls go off feeding? Is it like a season thing or what.. The male in question hasnt been cycled and never breed or been with any other snakes he was a pet.. And hasnt aten in close to a month... I tryed a small rat today and he was acting scared of it, it was freshly killed.. Should I be worried or is it common any detailed info would be stupendous?!?!

2. The male im talking about in my previous question I just recently recieved about a month ago.. And I have asked several high-end ball python breeders in person and they say he could be axantic but of course since never bred, he's not been proven out I would like some opinion from you all on what you think... I am going to put two pics of him which arent great but would like feedback to know if it is possible he could be axantic.PLEASE RESPONDE....

3. If you all think he is possibly a axantic just not proven. How would I go about proving him.. All I have is normal females right now that arent even close to breeding size yet so im figureing next year unless I come up on a great deal on a adult female normal which is almost impossible this time of year... If I was to breed him to a normal female if he is axantic would some of the hatchling show the same color, how pastels do or would I have to raise possible hets then rebreed them back to him??

Sometimes snakes just go off food...I've had one go 11 months without eating....
From what I can see...he doesn't really look axanthic...but hey some adult axanthics don't really look axanthic anyway....so just breed it and find out...
You would have to breed this male to normal females....then raise the baby females up to breed with the father...if he is in fact axanthic...they will all be 100% het axanthic (normal looking). You can always buy a (het) axanthic female or something of the sort if you want to try and prove him quicker....
