Average Hatchling Weight??

Mystical-Dragons Jul 12, 2005 11:53 AM

I was wondering how many grams a newly hatched Ball weighs? I just got lucky, and found a granite ball python at the local pet shop. I posted pics yesterday, and it was confirmed there is a good possibility it is a genetic granite due to the three common markers most have. I just wanted to get an idea of about how young he may be? I weighed him today and he's all of 66 grams after taking his first 2 fuzzies in my care. I also noticed about 2 inches up from the vent a slit in the middle of the scales on his belly. Am i right assuming this is where he was connected to the yolk sac in the egg? So far so good. I was extremely happy he ate the first meal offered without a hitch

Mine average right around 70grams. The slit is most likely where the yolk sack was attached.
