mmmthasgood1 Jul 12, 2005 06:22 PM

its nearly 7;30 he woke up and sat on his hide box so i thought id feed him...i guess hes to tired...i put the mmouse on part of his body because last night he would go right by it and not see it....i thought that today he might eat it if he was positive it was there...on him....

is it ok to do that?

I'm assuming that you are feeding frozen thawed? If so are you heating it up so that he recognizes that it is food? You may need to wiggle it in front of him to get him interested. Probably best not to put it on top of him - balls (especially little ones) don't have great aim - you don't want him bitting himself if he decides to go after it.

I have found that 'walking' the food around them and having it walk onto their backs and then back in front generally lets them know it is there works quite well. I just got some baby bp's CH that I'm quite sure have never eaten and 3 of them just took FT rat fuzzy's for me using that method. Make sure though that it is very warm, first one went after my tongs instead of the rat then took the rat!!
