Spike officially moved in today

el_toro Jul 12, 2005 06:42 PM

I've finished tweaking the lighting and temperatures and Spike was finally able to move into his new house. It's still puke ugly furniture, but he's got plenty of things to climb on and hide in. He's a bit panicky right now, but very interested in his new surroundings - especially the glass doors. He's got a much better view of the room now than before.

What are you using for a substrate?
I hope it's not what it looks like... crushed walnut shell has a history of causing impaction or intestinal bleeding.
Looks like a very nice enclosure.

Nope - no worries, it's millet seed. Been using it for nearly two years now with no problems. I didn't like sand - too dusty for my taste. Don't love millet, exactly, but it's been fine.

Thanks, guys! I'm so happy to have Spike! He's such a personality - I can't imagine being without him. I hope you and yours are doing well, too! Were you able to come down for the reptile show? Lots and lots of snakes, mostly.

What a fabulous house! It looks like fun to me too! What a lucky Uro, and a creative Uro "Mom"!

Another more recent picture. This is Spike exploring all the hidey holes in his driftwood log.
