I forgot, some people are against feeding beardies pinkies but she is pregnate and needs the calcium I give her 1 a month for 1 year and I have had absolutely no problems...

She's beautiful, but that's jsut sad...LOL
I couldn't feed pinkies, props to those who can, but I just can't...LOL

Is that crushed walnut shell she is on? that is the absolute worst substrate in the world!! Its sharp and can cut up her insides and if you are feeding her on it then she is ingesting some.
Awww She looks like my Merlin. They could be twins lol. I wouldn't judge as long as they eat since mine won't eat crickets anymore and I got yelled at for feeding mealworms because silkworms are to expensive. If anyone wants to make the comment that I shouldn't have them if I can't afford them then go ahead because my two would be dead if I hadn't rescued them.
meal worms aren't bad for your beardie and silkworms are expensive. Its cool you recued your beardies

I think the main concern with feeding pinkies is that they are high in fat. Once a month for an adult breeding female is fine. It's not necessary but it certainly won't hurt them. The concern about mealworms is they are hard to digest, especially for young dragons (under 14" long). Superworms are better for older dragons, still a bit high on the fat side but much more meatier than mealworms and not much difference in price.
Lately from what I have been reading in articles about insect feeders off list (sorry no soft copy yet, so can't post it for you all to read but working on making that possible, bare with me), a variety of well fed feeder insects is good (crickets, mealworms, superworms, silkies, roaches etc.) with care taking to balance the calcium/pospherous intake of the insect. What the insect eats will be what your dragons will eat. Gut loading is good but only for about 24 hours afterwards, afterthat, what they eat in the gutload gets used up. Also some gut loads are not healthy for the feeder insect and can wind up killing them.
Feeding reptiles isn't as simple as it sounds LOL..Now you have to properly care for their food as well.
