TREX needs a blood test

Flavia Guimaraes Jul 13, 2005 12:44 AM

My beautiful 5 years and a half TREX is not doing very well in India. Not eating enough not growing.Thor who is the same age is almost twice TREX size!

I found a vet that will do a blood test.He said he will collect blood from the tail.Thats the right place?Im afraid TREX will drop his perfect tail if the vet does that! What do you think?

Thanks Flavia

PS Iguana Joe im happy you are back! I still have the same iguanas, TREX and THOR but i adopted Godzilla out.

Yes, blood is usually drawn from the tail vein that is reached from underneath the tail. Very similar to drawing blood with a needle out of your arm. This should not bother Trex at all. I hope you find out what's wrong.

I just recently had to have blood drawn from my beardie two different times. Both times the tail vein was used. Its usually a pretty stressless situation...the animal is placed on a table with the tail hanging off the edge. The tail is steadied with someones hand and a small needle is placed into the vein on its underside. My beardie hated being restrained...but didn't even seem to feel the needle at all
