I was reading the post below i think from zillamonster regarding problems with the spikes shedding. I am having the same problem with my Ozzy. Everwhere else sheds fine but for some reason his spikes arent. In ozzys case its mostly his spikes in the middle. Top ones do ok, and the ones near the end do, but the ones in the middle have 2-3 layers of shed on them. I too have tried doing soaks but lets just say this is real stressfull for both of us. Hes not real impressed by it and about shreds my arms and hands in the process with his nails. I do mist him oh gosh at least 2-5 times a day, plus he has a pan of water in his cage and a fountain. Now i hadnt heard that you could use mineral oil on them, so i tried that the other day, and it does seem to be helping loosen some of it. So im wondering do i do this every day with the mineral oil? My fear, and i know it sounds funny, but i was afraid of his spikes getting burned if i have that oil on them, and hes sitting under his basking light. I mean i know when i go in the sun and oil up i just fry, but then im not a Iggy either, just a real fair complected person. LOL If i dont get anywhere with the oil im considering Rogers suggestion to try to slip the edge of small sissors under the layer of shed to cut up the side of it. Since i work as a dental assistant i might have a couple other insturments that may work better, just dont want to try that unless its a last resort. But my fear is that he could loose these spikes if i dont get this shed off. And i just dont think crabby(Ozzy) would go for the washrag thing. I have a feeling breeding season is coming soon, hes being a bit more testy lately. Ugh Im dreading that in a big way. So i guess this biggest question i have is can i put the mineral oil on every day without it causing him any problems? Thanks ahead for any help you have. Tami
