Cherries

iflln2fntsy Jul 13, 2005 04:26 PM

I just moved into a new house, and discovered that i had a cherry tree growing in the yard. I was told that the cherries are OK to humans to eat, and was wondering if 1) it is OK for my eastern box turtle to eat them (he is native to this area) and 2) if it is OK for him to eat them, should i remove the cherry pits?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Erin

Cherries are OK for an eastern to eat, and they can probably cope with the pits just fine. After watching ours consume snails, spitting out excess shell, I would think they'd be able to eat their way around a cherry pit quite easily.
