A comparison pic of babies from the clutch of 21 Borneo's...PIC

Matt J Jul 13, 2005 06:52 PM

Well, here is a comparison pic I REALLY like!

The pic shows two of the 'not so normal' looking babies that hatched from the Borneo clutch. Just some info: The incubation temp was approximately 89.4 degrees F for the duration. There were no temp spikes (high or low), no mold or fungus on any egg. So, are these babies going to be genetic? Time will tell! Both parents are VPI lineage and completely normal in appearance. There are 6 babies total that have this 'look' to them. These two are the most extreme. Yeah, they are keepers! (not sure on the sexes of all 6 yet) I'm still a bit floored about them and just don't really know what to think, other than I like them. Hopefully they will start well and thrive.

Hope you like them! I certainly do.

Wow, those are some great looking babies. Do you have pictures of what the parents look like? Very nice, and I am sure they are keepers Thanks for sharing the pictures...

Wow, they are absolutely gorgeous, congrats on hatching out such gorgeous babies. It's nice to see such great bloods and short tails being produced.

did you wet your pants? I probably would have. Those are amazing looking snakes, even if you had been expecting them. Did all 21 eggs hatch?
Congratulations on all of them, and, CONGRATULATIONS on the special ones!

>>did you wet your pants?

Almost! Hahaha... I did run in and get the wife. I was like, "Hey, you will not believe what killer looking babies are hatching!" I'm sure it was more animated than that, but I was pretty much floored when they were out of their eggs. Insane!

>Those are amazing looking snakes, even if you had been expecting them.

Thanks, Andy. I agree!

> Did all 21 eggs hatch?

They did. ALL were perfect in the end. Temps were VERY consistant over the entire incubation (approx. 89.4 F; NO temp spikes at all) and there was no fungus or mold on any egg. I'm still VERY surprised!

>>Congratulations on all of them, and, CONGRATULATIONS on the special ones!

Thanks, again! Much appreciated.

...for the very kind words about these snakes! I'll have more pics after they have started to eat. I'm not going to bother them again until after that time. So, stay tuned!

Matt
p.s. - Here are the parents (the pics are named incorrectly... I did not know which the male or female until the girl was gravid last season! Hahahaha...)

Uh oh, does that make it sound like I'm on the eugenics counsel or something?
No, just saying they are a nice pair. I didn't mention it, but when I first looked at the "comparison pic" I was checking out the top snake, nice stripe, very attractive, definitely one I'd like seeing hatch out. Then scrolled down and -- holy moley!! Again, congratulations!
