How are Gecko parasites, sicknesses, etc... passed on to other geckos??

philg Jul 15, 2003 04:44 PM

Right now I've got 2.5.2 leopards. I kind of inherited 2 of my females from someone who neglected them for awhile, and they seem to have some sort of illness (possible parasite...watery stool, some regurgitation, very skinny...) I'm going to get them checked out by a vet soon, but my question is, how are these sicknesses tranferred to others?? I mean, I have all of my geckos in separate setups, do I have to worry about them getting something, or can I rest easy?

it depends on what the illness is. some can be airborne, but it's usually direct contact, or not washing you hands after handling the sick ones that will do it. you should keep the sick ones in a different room.

I moved them away from the others tonight. I'm not sure if whatever they *might* have would be airborne or not, but I'm not taking any chances. Does anybody know what could be airborne??
