mmmthasgood1 Jul 13, 2005 07:29 PM

hes about 2-3 months old.,....could he kill one?

rcr Jul 13, 2005 07:31 PM

yes get him a small rat pup...with some fur on it...or a hopper mouse...I prefer rat pups cause they are bigger and don't put up a fight...

just curious, what do you think they eat in the wild? at 2-3 months 99% of my babies are eating large rat pups or small adult mice. I'm not trying to sound smart but give your boy a chance to relax. if that pic is recent he doesn't seem to be on the verge of dying, live is definatly the way to go for problem feeders, yes they may get bitten or scratched but a snake that never eats will die eventually. Just my .02 hope it helps

How new is he? They need a week or two to settle in. Offer him live.

Quit trying to feed him every 5 minutes. All you're doing is stressing the snake out more each time. Based on the fact that you know what he is doing 24/7 I'd guess he hasn't had time to adjust and acclimate. Leave him alone for a week or 2 then offer a hopper mouse. But don't drop it on his head or throw it in front of him. Get a small tight fitting hidebox and put the mouse in at night. Keep an eye on him but stay out of his line of vision so he feels secure. Ideally you'll want him on rats but hoppers seem to catch their interest more because of their quick movements. If he doesn't take the hopper in an hour or two remove it. Then try again in a couple of days. Ron

(HELP PLEASE MY SNAKE WONT EAT, etc.)

..and by looking at that one picture i stated all the things that could have been effecting the snakes feeding response..

so delete this and also delete my user name from this forum if you really wanna be like that...

He will eat when he's hungry.

If you haven't yet, try feeding a live rat pup late at nite (keep the lights off).
Try not to bother him too much.

Sounds like you may be stressing out the little guy - there's nothing I hate more, then when someone throws food in my face when i'm not hungry!

You could actually cause him to be affraid of prey items, if you keep harassing him with them.

Give him time, and don't preasure him! Trust me, he will eat!
