Help! Bull snake eggs!

rattyrugrats Jul 13, 2005 11:31 PM

About a week or two ago, I found a bull snake and monday morning it laid 22 eggs. I have never cared for snake eggs before so I have no clue as to how to care for them. I called a pet store and they told me a little about how to care for them, but I would still like more info, so if you could help in any way, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, is it natural for the eggs to dent slightly? I'm worried... If it's not, how do I prevent this and care for those in which it has already occurred? And is 72* to 73* okay, or is it critical for them to be at 75*? Thanks for any and all advice!

Cool! I've incubated a number of clutches of bullsnake eggs. They are great snakes!

Bullsnake eggs are incubated exactly like corn snake eggs. 75 degrees Fahrenheit is much too cool. 82-84 degrees F is good, from the information that I have found in the scientific literature.

Dimpling of the shell indicates that the eggs are starting to dehydrate. A little is fairly easy to correct. Just wrapping the eggs in damp (wet and well squeezed, not dripping) paper towels will arrest and even reverse the dimpling.

I will e-mail more information.
