When will my ball be mature enough to breed?

timh Jul 14, 2005 01:12 AM

I purchased my male ball last december when it was young(im not sure how old, no more than a few weeks). I like him so much that i already know i want to find him a female and give breeding a try, but ive heard different things as to when a ball is mature enough to breed. I read that males usually are sexually mature enough to mate succesfully at around 16 months. I also heard that they are ready to reproduce at 650 grams. Does weight or age play more of a factor? I was hoping that he would be ready to breed by this coming december/january(this is the right time of year to attmept breeding?), but im not sure if he will be. Generally, how old is the youngest age that i should try to breed my snake at? Should i wait until for another year, or can i try it this coming season? Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
