My husband wants to build a cage out of wood. Three sides wood, the front plexiglass.
Can we use latex or non-toxic acrylic paint on the wood?
Just want to make sure it wouldn't harm the snake.
Thanks!

make sure that there is no way the snake could ingest anything, ALWAYS feed out of the tank, and before putting the snake in let the cage let it sit (opened) for a week or 2 to make sure there are no more fumes. anyone have anything else to add?

Two things: I chose to use melamine when I built my cage because it's already coated, so no need to worry about fumes or painting etc (except caulking the edges to seal it). Also, there is a cage & habitat design forum here. You will find wonderful ideas & assistance there.
