Yes,
take string and follow it around the snakes coils from the tip of it's nose to the end of it's tail. Once finished. Then cut the string and measure the string instead.

You can have him/her move along a wall and mark his head & tail. Another way is to take a photo looking straing down at the snake next to something of known length and import it into a program called "snakemeasurer"(you can find it on google) if you have a digicam/scanner.
The string method I've used on occasion, when she's not to wiggley
. The wall is what I use most often. Think I'll check into that snakemeasurer. Thanks for the tip.
