what is the best way to cut if it comes down to it. i just want to be prepared and do it right.

I have a very tiny pair of scissors with specially curved blades. It's hard to explain, but you want to turn the scissors sideways and barely nip a seam or high spot just enough that you can insert the tip of the scissors. Then you want to carefully cut a triangle. While cutting point the tip of the scissors (that are inside the egg) towards the outside of the egg. That way you reduce the chances of hitting the animal.

But to reiterate, I would wait 60 days. My last clutch started pipping at 55 days. They were incubated at 90 degrees. The last to pip was nearly 60 days - 58 I believe.

i completly understand your cutting technique and will definately wait until 60 days. i would rather watch them come out on their own,but want to be ready in case they dont want to.thanks for the info. do you have any advise on where to find heat cable or a better way to heat a refridge size incubator.

You can get heat cable at PetSmart. ) Good luck with the eggs!

Don't need to wait. This year, all clutches have started to pip on day 53 and hatched by day 56.

I cut when they pip
