Couple more novice questions for you guys!

Kinglvr Jul 14, 2005 05:34 PM

Hey everyone. In my attempt to comprehend the way these animals think and function, I have a couple questions to ask that I'm sure some of you will be able to answer. First, what kind of memory does a snake have and does it increase as they become older, like humans? Or is it like fish (which have a memory of about 3 seconds according to animal planet)? And secondly, do these creatures see in black and white or in color?

Now I have a question about my snake specifically. I have her (yes, it's a her. I had a guy at ARC in missouri pop her. I know that doesn't etch the sex in stone, but hey...)warm end at about 78-82 degrees F (it fluctuates) and her cool end is about 72-75 degrees. According to all that I've read, this is about the temps you want, but for some reason, Lexus spends most, if not all of her cage time under the aspen shavings in the cool end. Is she trying to tell me it's too hot in the warm end, or is this a normal thing that alot of you experience as well.

Thanks in advance you guys.

Your snake definately knows what it wants. Your temps seem fine to me. As long as it doesn't regurgitate its food, it's fine. It probably goes to the warm side after eating. Sounds like you're doing the right thing to me. Derek

Thanks for the reply. I figured the temps were good, it's just that she doesn't seem very active usually. But you're right. The day after she eats, I'll usually find her towards the warm side, and she has never regurgitated and she eats like a pig, so I think everything is okay. Thanks again.

Anyone have any responses to my other questions, I'm really curious about this.
