What type of lizard?

kg Jul 15, 2003 06:10 PM

I'm looking for a little lizard (not a gecko) preferably nocturnal, so I can watch it at night (yeah I'm a freak). I'm not big on getting another leopard gecko. I don't know. I just want a little lizard that I can keep in a naturalistic enclosure. Doesn't have to be handleable, as long as I can take it out to clean the cage. Have any ideas on what I should get?

Hey...try looking into yellow ackies(varanus acanthurus). These are a blast to just sit and watch, especially in a naturalistic enclosure. I'm not sure if they're diurnal or nocturnal. My friend who keeps them says they seem to have their own schedule, and they're handleable. They get about 2 ft. w/ tail and they're all C/B! They are a little pricey...about $150-$200 for yellows and about $300 for reds. Well, good luck with whatever you choose!

I might get one when I move. Until then, I want a TINY lizard. Somewhere like 5-10 inches. Like I said below, I want a mossy leaf tail gecko. Cool little things. Don't know if I'll be able to keep the temps so low though.

He he, sorry... couldnt resist kg... I know you cant have any.

I do not know of any nocurnal lizards besides geckos... I think there are some night lizards(is that even a species?) or something.

I do the same thing with my snakes and gecko, just sit and watch them at 2 am. Heh, it works.

You just reminded me again that I can't have a snake. I was thinking about one of those Mossy Leaf-tail geckos. I like the Satanic ones. Guess what I named my new beardie? Heroin Girl...yep.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuure you're sorry. Yeah, I think I could keep a Satanic leaf tail. I could keep ice cubes on top of the screen or in the cage to drop the temps. I want a naturalistic enclosure. I guess I could do desert style with a leopard gecko... but I would want a normal/wild phase for a naturalistic thing.
