now that I have figured out how to post pictures, my little hams can show off how cute they are. These two are of my girl, Harley.

Darn "Enter" button.

I was going to say, great looking pair of young ornates. They are ornates, aren't they?

yes, they are ornates, the boy is just about two, and the girl is about two months younger than him.

What neat colorations! They certainly look plump and happy! I especially like the coloration on Harley!

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the compliments, if they could my ornates would be blushing.
Harley, despite the general thought that girls are more 'boring' is developing some very interesting color patterns. She is getting these small florescent orange spots on the back of her neck. (I have bene unable to get a good shot with my macro lens.)
They were young when I received them (5 months ago) so I know their colors are still, but I believe that the higher amount of uvb from the mercury vapor bulb is helping.

This ornate pair are not my first uros. 10 years ago I acquired an adult wild caught female mali Gorn from a failing breeding program in New Hampshire. I was living in Massachusetts at the time, where it is illegal to keep any uromastyx unless you operate a zoo (b/c uros were/are on CITES it's illegal to have *any* of them). Gorn, as I called her, moved to NYC with me and lived a fat and comfortable life with me for 8 years.

I used to be involved in the uro listserve on Tricia's waterdragon page, but it became unpleasant to read because of all of the attitude & fights... so now I just troll the message boards.

4 years ago I rescued an abandoned ball python. He was a very sweet animal named Kai, but I found a permanent home for him at the end of last year.

Is anyone in this forum in NYC or done any rescue work with herps?
