phiber_optikx Jul 15, 2005 02:47 AM

well, Hope was my first snake and I named her Hope because I hoped she wouldn't die . Kilo and Road Hog WERE my brothers snakes so he named them, my 2 new rats are name Chunk (off of the Goonies ) and Peaches (my fiancee named that one) so there are their stories.... Usually if you can find a solid theme, you can name 100 snakes!

The names are all below, used the X-men series to name them, except one. My albino black rat, named him after the red headed kid Malakai, on "Children of the Corn", because he was pure evil as a hatchling. Biting anything and anyone all the time!! LOL

Our two are Nag and Nagena (the kids like Kipling). We also create "use names" for the babies, even though we don't keep them. The first year we had alpha, beta, gamma, delta,. . .for the first clutch and aleph, bet, gimmel, dalit . . . for the second. The next year we had George Washington through Bill Clinton (both clutches). This year we're going to use countries in Europe (if they ever hatch). We figure we might as well use something educational.

My first snake was Cosmo after Kramer on Seinfeld. After that, I decided to keep naming them after Grateful Dead songs. I figure that catalog will let me build my collection for awhile before I run out of names.

>>is that shana from the elvenbane books?

I have read the Elvenbane books.
I knew I got Shana from a book (or series of books) but couldn't remember which.

That's like Alias, her name came from a Forgotten Realms series.

I read a lot of fantasy, horror and mystery/suspence. Or at least I used to. Hardly any time anymore.
Now I'm lucky to find enough time to read my Reptiles magazine when it comes....lol
too much time in front of the computer!!

The male amel cornsnake I used to have (had to sell him when i moved last year) I named Copperfield (after David Copperfield) when he managed to 'disappear' in a 35 gal tank and I couldn't find him even after sifting through all the aspen shavings and removed the hides. Only had about half an inch of shavings over a layer of papertowel and I checked underneath the papertowel. Spent two hours searching the room the cage was in only to see my snake watching me from inside the tank. He did this to me again a few weeks later.

Stryder Jul 16, 2005 07:26 PM

Lets see;

Mickey
Fido
Althea
Tiffany
Batman
Mrs. Clause(was Santa Clause, 'till she layed eggs)
Monty(everyone needs a Python named Monty)
Samson
Delilah
Dead (if this snake dies, I will rename him Fine, and name a different snake Dead. If someone tries to tell me "That snake is dead" I can say "No, that snake is Fine. This one is Dead."

Little Tweaker (one hellion of a hatchling)

and the rest of a clutch of baby corns who are still awaiting names.......

Raven01 Jul 16, 2005 09:08 PM

Dumerils Boas:

Logan - after Logan's Pass in Glacier Nat'l Park, Montana

Solomon Island Ground Boas:
Jasmine - for the plant (darn shame the snake isn't as sweet as the flower smells! lol)
Merlin - after Arthurian legends

Ball Python:
Eli - originally named Elizabeth by the previous owner, then found out 'she' was a 'he'

Coastal Carpet X Jungle Carpet Python:
Byron - after the poet

Coastal Carpet Python:
Silk - because as a hatchling her skin looked and felt like silk

Basically, the names come from all sorts of things.

Easy, one snake = one name

2004 motley sunglow from SMR = Habibi (arabic term of endearment, darling, lover, etc.) I belly dance and the term Habibi frequently shows up in the music's lyrics.
