Lineds like it hot...

boy Jul 15, 2005 05:17 AM

I finally saw one of my female uroplatus lay some eggs. out of 30 eggs you would think I've seen it but no! Well tonight one of my lineds went MIA... Sure enough I found her but deep in some dirt and some nice whites right next to her!!!

That made my night. Didn't think she'd be laying considering she's regrowing her tail. Guess I was wrong. 4 lined eggs and two more to come from my other female.

Cheers
Jason

after a crappy day at work, i got home to be cheered up by looking into my egg box and finding a pair of eyes staring right back at me. henkeli #3 hatched out tonight, and hopefully its clutchmate is soon to come. while im glad for it and all, i was kinda hoping the eggs would hold out another week seeing as im moving back home to charlotte on wednesday. hopefully the 3 hour drive wont be too much for it, much less my 35 other gex.

so i guess this means 2 of your females are laying now? and do you know if its only 1 or a possible 2 males siring your eggs?

Surprisingly both males. I've been essentially time mating them like I do mice at work. I've been placing one male in for a few days and then removing him and then adding the other in there for the same time period. I'm mostly just trying to get a good feel for the capability of them all. I saw some bite wounds on her a while ago so I assumed it was over aggression. Totally worked out though once the males were brought through.

Lets not talk about work as I've been working nearly 12 hour days for the past week. There is a big inspection where the FDA and USDA are coming through and I've been cleaning up my bosses messes.

Thats awesome Jason. I'm glad to see some people are having success with lineds, they seem like some of the least bred species. Good luck with all your other Uroplatus.
