Black Milk Snake clutch just laid, few quick questions...

gofer Jul 15, 2003 06:34 PM

Hello, this is the first time i've bred Black Milks, and I just had one female lay a clutch of 6 good eggs and 1 non fertile egg. I have incubated Pituophis and Corn eggs, but was wondering what the optimum temp and lenght of time is for these guys in the incubator? Also, is it best to keep them as humid as other colubrid eggs? Thanks in advance for your help and reply, and i'll try to post a pic of the clutch tonight/tomorrow.
Have a good day,
Gregg F.

According to the "Vivarium" article written by the reptile curator of the San Antonio Zoo, they incubated their gaigeae eggs at 77-81F (25-27C) in a 1:1 (by weight) mixture of water and vermiculite. They hatch in 70-80 days. Good luck!

Thanks a lot, greatly appreciated. I have them incubating right now at 80.5, so i'll just leave it go at that, maybe turn the temp down a hair. I'll post a pic of the cluctch, nothing special, lol, but it's all i have to post until they hatch.
Have a good day, and thanks again for your help.
