Found an egg!

FatherGoose Jul 15, 2005 11:59 AM

I found an egg in my cresteds' cage last night! I am completely unprepared for it! What kind of incubator should I purchase and where to get it!?! I have been meaning to get one but a job change, school etc. have prevented my being as efficient as usual!

I suggest the hovabator. I use one for my crested geckos. It is good for only a few clutches. I currently have 3 clutches( 6 eggs) in it. It is easy to use. It was about 40 dollars at lllreptile.com. It is def. worth it. Although for cresteds, they can be incubated at room temp. I have a cold house so I bought one.

u dont really need to incubate crested eggs, just put it in a deli cup type container with a 1:1 mixture BY WEIGHT of perlite or vermiculite and water. and put it someplace that keeps a pretty steady temp between 72 and 79 ish degrees (aka room temp) and wait!. gl to ya

I got you topped here. Try living in Los Angeles... Its hot and dry here.

I lived in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area for years and that is home to me. Never really gets hotter than 80 degrees in the city itself. I would kill to have that kind of weather again. I would be in heaven in your Maine weather.

Thanks guys, I went ahead and purchased some medium and containers today. As I was placing the egg into the containers, I noticed that the egg was dented and yellowish, not to mention that it seemed brittle, rough and almost ashy. I think I lost this one but hope is not lost! She will drop again, I'm sure and this time, it won't make it past me!
