Racers vs. Cornsnakes

rick gordon Jul 15, 2005 12:46 PM

I have to say that while cornsnakes are calmer, Racers are far more intelligent and engaging, even if there interaction tends to be more aggressive. Next to racers a cornsnake is kind of retarded, racers demand more respect, and thats okay by me, I still find them to be a far more interesting and rewarding pet then a cornsnake, just my opinion.

NOt really why not posting this in the corn snake forum?????

looking for supporters, and then i'll hit the cornsnake forum.

Well, as a guy who owns two corns, and no racers, in all honesty I have to say that you've made some good points. Insofar as getting supporters, two things. First, this board is often dead, sometimes for as long as a week or more without a post, so supporters might be a little slow coming. Second, it's been my experience that few people are willing to outright insult (or discount, or whatever the case may be) an entire species. Each species has its particular pros and cons, and most people recognize that, so your rhetoric may be putting a damper on things as well.

However, I frequent the corn forum, and I can tell you that a post like the original post in this thread could start an interesting conversation if they don't take the "retarded" remark personally. So, why don't you post there and see if something interesting happens.

and have a coachwhip that is almost as docile as my bullsnakes. The think I like in a snake is one that is alert, active during the day, and doesn't mind being held. Coachwhips are visual snakes and I think that in order to process that kind on information they need to be a little smarter. What do you think?

I agree, racers and coachwips really look at you and seem to be thinking, anticipating your movements etc. While corn snakes seem barely conscious.

Like you said this forum is usually dead so I was trying to liven it up a bit. Though I am a generally abrasive person, I find it rude to insult a species in it's own forum, but I might do it anyway, I am kind of bored.

I have to say that I started laughing when I read the retard part. Especially hatchlings. I often wonder how they survive in the wild. The only snake dumber about eating as a hatchling is a rosy boa. I have all of these species and have bred them so I can speak from experience.

little response though, Cornsnake people are too mellow, I bet if you spit on them, they will apologize for getting in the way of your spit!

LOL...funny stuff..
I have coachwhips and corns...the coachwhips are awesome snakes...they have a certain look that says i can kick your ass...and will if you come close enough.
Corns on the other hand could care less what goes on...great for kids to hold though...i love em both.
