Female King found in the ANF today

Sean Jul 15, 2005 09:49 PM

Finally, after almost three years, I've been looking for a female king from the ANF to pair up with a male I found back in 2002. Today, I went out for a short while and came up with this, my only find, a near four foot female Apalachicola X Eastern intergrade.

The neat thing is I found her about 1/2 mile from where I found this male back in September 2002.

So now I finally have a WC pair of getula I found myself from the Apalachicola National Forest. My next goal is to breed these next season and see how the offspring turn out. To say I'm very excited right now is quite an understatement!

Well Sean let me be the first on this forum to say put me down for a pair. You have put the time in and you earned that pair.

Thanks Jason! Let me tell you it's gonna be hard next year when I breed them and see how many eggs she lays and what hatches out. I'm tempted to keep most if not all of them to see how they turn out as adults. I'll definitely keep you in mind if I sell any though.

Congrats again Sean! That's a gorgeous snake! It has more Apalachicola king influence than I was expecting from your description on the phone. Now I want to come on up again and help you find another one.
That DOR really got me wanting to find a live one. I'm starting to understand your obsession

Can't wait to see the babies those two produce!

Thanks Chris! After looking at her more closely, she does have some interband lightening. She may shed soon so we'll see if it brightens up. Now you know how I felt after finding my first dor out there...I HAD to find a live one!

So I should breed her with a CB Axanthic Brooksi then huh...just to make sure I get pure, locality offspring.

Never know what the genetics could hold in the kings from that area. That female could possibly throw very speckled young just as easily as she could getula looking young.

It will be very interesting to see what they produce next year. BTW, only saw two Racers today, both alive...not a single dor.
