What is the absolute best way to get rid of mites? Does anyone have experience with Ivermectin(dosage) or even anything in that family like Selamectin?

Provent has worked amazingly well for me! Just be sure to let the solution dry and the tub air out before returning animals to their enclosures.

Provent-a-mite is just 0.5% permethrin, which you can buy at any agricultural supply store at 10% concentration, I think it is marketed as permectin, or something like that, just check the bottle. Just mix at a 20:1 ratio water to 10% solution, and you have very cheap alternative to provent-a-mite. An 8 oz bottle cost us 7 bucks, and can make up to 160 oz of 0.5% solution.

Provent-a-mite is absolutely the best available for treatment of mites. I spent many years trying offered solutions. Some I tried were a solution of ivermectin & water sprayed directly on the animal, a solution of a cattle insectcide called neguvon mixed with water & sprayed on (per Scott Stahl, DVM) and prepared mite liquids. When I tried Prevent-a-Mite, what a blessing and so easy. You use an extremely minimal amount ( a spray of 2-3 seconds depending on cage size) and the cage is ready for the animal's return in 5 minutes. Always remove the water bowl. I usually replace the water the next day. On larger snakes I have even used a minimal spray right on the snake. Great stuff.
