Can ya'll tell me what greybands go for? I was given a 4 foot female (she looks a bit obese to me for a greyband), and I'm just trying to get an idea of what they're worth, as I deal mostly in Western and Mexican Hognoses.
Thanks,
Will

6 nights in west Texas hotel: $255.00
8 tanks of fuel: $216.00
food for a week for two: $361.13
drinks.... hmmmmmm... $ ?.?? (a lot though.)
batteries, bulbs, and other miscellaneous crap
we think is is so important: $250.00
unexpected vehicle repair: $425.00
that alterna you are asking about????: priceless.
LOL! That is a true assessment if I ever heard one! Keep her and enjoy the gift in the spirit it was given.

The point is I don't deal in Greybands, I only keep hognoses. I think alternas are cool; But like I said, I'm focusing on Red Phase Western Hogs and Mexican Hogs. So, I'm just trying to see what I could trade it for or sell it for, that's all, since I don't really know the value of them.
Thanks,
Will
You haven't given us enough information. The value depends on a number of factors: Locality, sex (females carry more value than males unless they are too old to reproduce), age (a female that size may be a retired breeder and for good reason), condition (obesity would not be a good thing), color and markings, then the geographical market or miles away from Texas (where they are common as dirt!!!!!!!!).
RP
Well Nathan, not really as common as dirt but more of not uncommon or rare. LOL

I don't know...I thought they were common as dirt this last trip (LOL!) See complementary link.

Yeah Mr. South Sanderson-Deer Canyon, we'll see how easy they are when you return next season. I will be monitoring your activities to make sure you don't regress and show back up in Sanderson! You know, when the chips are down,.............they always return!
Wayne
Wayne, I'll be sure to give you a call next year and arrange a night when we can both be on Boy Scout together. That way, I'm guaranteed at least one from the Davis Mts! (OH GEEZ) I'm really done with Sanderson. Until you can find a male from 'you know where' my female's sweet spot will have to be raptured by alterna #7 - the closest male I have to that area. Did I say #7...#7 of 8!!!!!!!!

(((((((((((((((((((((
hahah, every herper we met had caught at least one alterna this past may-june trip. but for us, two weeks, and nadda. the closest we came to a grey-banded-snake had a rattle and was dead
and its not like anyone would confuse a dead lepidus with a live alterna...even for a split second... right HKM?
!!!
I think you meant to say that to Robert P. and not me. LOL.
Nathan Wells
You must be using alterna chum too. lol

Ok, I'll provide as much history of the snake as I can.
The people said they bought it from a local pet store. They've had it about two years. They said they fed it about every week - week and a half (too much for a snake that large, in my estimation). I know nothing of the locality of the snake, since it was bought at a pet store.
The snake is a female, about 4 feet long, about as big around as a quarter at her biggest. She has long bands (from front to back) of red and grey (each band is about an inch long), which are separated by much smaller black bands (which are about 1/8 inch long from front to back). She's not bitey at all, just a little flighty - i.e. hasn't been handled much. I have a greyband I use at work in Education, and it looks like the one in the picture that someone posted on one of the replys (I work at a zoo), so I get alot of calls like this.
So, there you go! I mean, she's cool and everything, but not really anything that I'm working on, like I said. I'll post a picture of her tomorrow.
Here's my pride and joy (yes, I know this is a greyband forum!)
Thanks,
Will

I believe GBKs can range from 75$ for a non locallity baby or about 100-175 for a locallity GBK. I paid I think 150$ or 175$ (hard to remember from last year) for this Black Gap local female. If your not sure, just pass. Better to be safe than sorry. At 4 feet, it is full grown, and who knows how old it is. Derek
I paid 75$ for this non locality male last year also. Derek

I paid 80$ for this female baby 2 1/2 years ago, and she was bought at a local pet store here. She is a non Local. I highly reccomend GBKs. I own 5 of them, and they are awesome no matter what locallity they are. This snake is more docile than my cornsnakes. Derek
